Ability tip — Sneasel is a stepping stone to Weavile — most competitive play evolves it. Its own niche is as an Eviolite-boosted fast attacker in the lowest tiers, where the item patches its glass jaw.

How to beat Sneasel

Don’t bother racing base Sneasel — it’s very fast but has SIX weaknesses and almost no bulk. Tank one hit with a bulky Fighting- or Steel-type and KO back, or just use priority: Bullet Punch and Mach Punch are both super-effective, and Fighting hits a crushing 4×. Its main tool is Knock Off, so keep item-reliant mons out until it’s gone.

In Pokémon GO, Sneasel is mostly a stepping stone — evolve it (walk 7 km, then night-time) into Weavile, one of the best budget Ice/Dark glass-cannon attackers.

What is Sneasel weak to?

As a Dark/Ice-type, Sneasel takes super-effective damage from Fighting, Fire, Bug, Rock, Steel, Fairy. Pair it with teammates that resist those types — the team builder starts you off with Sneasel and flags the rest of your team’s shared weaknesses as you go.

Sneasel FAQ

What is Sneasel weak to?

Sneasel (Dark/Ice) is 4× weak to Fighting, and 2× weak to Bug, Fire, Rock, Steel and Fairy — six weaknesses in total, which its low bulk makes very punishing.

Should I evolve Sneasel into Weavile?

For battling, yes — Weavile keeps the same great Dark/Ice offense with far better stats. Sneasel is only preferred in NFE-only formats where it can hold an Eviolite.
