How to beat Umbreon
The trap is Foul Play: it deals damage using YOUR Attack stat, so the harder your physical attacker hits, the harder it hits back. The clean answer is a special setup sweeper (Calm Mind / Nasty Plot) that Umbreon simply can't dent, plus Taunt to deny Wish/Protect/Toxic. Steel and Poison types are immune to Toxic outright. Don't try to out-stall it — you'll lose the PP war.

Umbreon FAQ
Why can’t my strong physical attacker beat Umbreon?
Because Foul Play uses your own Attack stat against you — a high-Attack physical mon just powers up the move that KOs it. Bring a special attacker instead.
What is the best moveset for Umbreon?
The classic support set is Wish / Protect / Foul Play / Toxic with a Bold nature and Leftovers — heal the team, stall with Protect, chip with Toxic, and punish physical attackers with Foul Play.
Is Umbreon a good defensive Pokémon?
Yes — it’s one of the best special walls in the game thanks to base 130 Special Defense and reliable recovery via Wish. Its weakness is low offensive pressure.
