Team weakness analysis
Damage each attacking type deals to your team. Too much red in a row = that type wrecks you.
Build around Mega Evolution
Legends: Z-A puts Mega Evolution back at the centre — it adds 26 new Mega forms for a total of 76, and in battle you charge Mega Power and Mega Evolve one Pokémon mid-fight. Because only one of your team Megas per battle, the other five still have to hold their own on typing alone. Drop your six into the builder to see which attacking types threaten the whole squad, then adjust before your Mega even comes online. New to it? Start with our step-by-step guide to building a team.
Type coverage still wins real-time battles
Z-A trades turn-based combat for Agile and Strong styles, but the type chart still decides how much damage lands. For ranked competitive battles especially, a team with three members weak to the same type is a liability — the weakness checker flags any shared hole so you can patch it with a resist or immunity before you queue up.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A team builder FAQ
Which Pokémon can I use in a Pokémon Legends: Z-A team?
Legends: Z-A is set in Lumiose City in the Kalos region, so its roster is Kalos-centred and built around Mega Evolution. This builder covers the Kalos Pokémon and the classic Mega Evolutions, so you can plan your six and see their combined type weaknesses and coverage before you commit.
Does type coverage still matter in Legends: Z-A?
Yes. Even with Z-A’s real-time Agile/Strong battle style and mid-battle Mega Evolution (you build Mega Power and only one Pokémon Mega Evolves per battle), type match-ups still decide how much damage lands. Ranked competitive battles in particular reward a team with no stacked weakness — exactly what the weakness chart flags.
Does the builder include the new Z-A Mega Evolutions?
Z-A added 26 new Mega Evolutions (bringing the total to 76), including new forms for Chesnaught, Delphox, Greninja, Feraligatr and Zygarde. The builder currently includes the classic Mega Evolutions (Charizard, Gardevoir, Lucario, Absol and more) for coverage planning; the brand-new Z-A Megas are being added — for now, plan around each Pokémon’s base forme and typing.
